God Said Give ‘Em Drum Machines (Detroit Techno Movie)

Hello Techno tribe! Want to learn more about the history of Techno and its Detroit origins? Friday, November 3rd, we invite you to join us for the viewing of the film “God Said Give ‘Em Drum Machines” at the University of California San Diego.

The music documentary traces the rise of techno from its humble beginnings in the underground clubs of Detroit to its global domination today.

The film features exclusive interviews with the pioneers of techno, including Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Blake Baxter, and Eddie Fowlkes. These visionaries were the first to experiment with the Roland drum machine, creating a new sound that was both futuristic and deeply soulful.

Film viewing will be Friday, November 3rd @ 6pm at the Suraj Israni Center for Cinematic Arts on the UCSD La Jolla campus. After the film will be a Q&A session with director Kristian Hill and producer Jennifer Washington.
