Richie Hawtin presents Plastikman – Spastik 1993

Richie Hawtin’s “Spastik” is a classic Techno song that was released in 1993 as his Plastikman alias. It is considered to be one of the most influential techno tracks of all time, and it has been praised for its innovative use of sound and its minimalist approach. The song was released on his album, Recycled Plastic, now available on Bandcamp.

“Spastik” had a major impact on the development of the Techno music genre. It is a dark, atmospheric, and repetitive track, but it is also incredibly danceable. The track is also notable for its use of industrial and metallic sounds, which were not common in techno at the time.

The Plastikman sound was minimalism taken to an extreme. Hard, metallic Roland-808 and 909 drum tracks fused with dark, ghostly synths and menacing 303 acid lines marked both the release of the first Plastikman full-length, Sheet One, and what would become the moniker’s signature track, “Spastik.”

Insomniac

It was released at a time when techno music was still relatively underground, and it helped to bring the genre to a wider audience. “Spastik” continues to be played in clubs and festivals around the world today.
